it’s beginning to look a lot like christmas…

(except my xanga site still looks extremely fall-ish.  i’ve decided to at least wait until december 1st before doing a revamp…)

making pumpkin pie in my pajamas, with christmas music resounding from the living room stereo, has got to be one of the funnest festive things ever!  (well, that and our long standing tradition of eating pumpkin pie for breakfast the day after thanksgiving)

speaking of music – music is most definitely one of my favorite aspects of christmas.  have you ever noticed how many christmas carols are like hymns?  at first they just seem like liturgical words that we’ve known since we were 3 years old, but then you listen more closely and pay attention to the words and you realize the depth of meaning and immense spirituality (in the christian sense of the word!) they have.

and then there’s other music.  last night i was with some friends and we were discussing the worst christmas songs out there.  i think “santa baby,” “feliz navidad,” and that one that goes “last christmas i gave you my heart, and the very next day you gave it away” were the top three worst…  yeee.

and then there’s the wonderful, seasonal favorites that bring waves of nostaglia everytime i hear them.  and since i know you are all just dying of curiosity, here are my top 5 favorite christmas albums, in no particular ranking:

Amy Grant’s Home for Christmas album –

Michael W. Smith’s Christmastime album –

Steven Curtis Chapman’s Music of Christmas album –

Amy Grant’s Christmas Album

Michael W. Smith’s Christmas album –

okay,  make that top 6, because there is one more i must confess to.  now, don’t laugh – i know it’s totally old school, but i seriously do love 4Him’s Season of Love christmas album –

so – what are y’all’s favorite christmas cds?!?!

  1. Ewww – I agree on ‘Santa Baby’ and that ‘last Christmas’ song… and I would have to add ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’.Handel’s Messiah… and the Snoopy/Peanuts Christmas cd… and Manhiem Steamroller…

  2. um.. relient k’s – deck the halls bruise your hand..
thats about it.. although their has been some boys II men stuff that is pretty sweet.. plus sax christmas stuff is cool aslo.. but i am not big into christmas music.. being this early.. maybe in 2 or 3 weeks i might get into it.. but the old stuff gets boring after a while

  3. i’m a big fan of the charlie brown christmas, too.  i also really love the christmas carols from king’s college.
i miss the all christmas music station.  …even though i gag every time santa baby comes on.
