the apartment!

hello.  and welcome to The Launching Pad.  my name is andrea and i will be your guide for the next few minutes as we take a tour of the single most popular apartment complex amongst newly-married couples, both in sovereign grace as well as in the homeschool arena.

first, a bit of history.  the official name is actually Playa/Sahara Palms, but those of us who are more familiar with it (have friends/family who have lived here, etc) affectionately refer to it as The Launching Pad.  i personally have known no less than 10 couples/friends who have leased apartments here at the beginning of their marriage.  it’s simply the best rate for the quality of the apartment.

now, enough talking, i’m sure you’re all anxious to see the place!  right this way…

now, although it is nearly completely furnished thanks to the generosity of many friends and family members, i am letting it just remain zach’s bachelor pad for the 6 weeks that he lives here prior to the wedding.  there will be time enough to add my own decorations and feminine touch once i’m offically living here after the wedding.

ah, here we are.

as you step through the front door, on the right you will see the living room:

the couches were gifts to us from the future in-laws (Ron & Tami), and the coffee table and end table(s – 2nd one is in the office) were gifts from a family in the church.  soon to be painted black to match the bookshelves.  πŸ™‚

the bookshelves came with zach – he’s had them for several years, as well as the nautical paraphernalia inside.  pretty cool, huh?

now, if you turn and look to your left, you will see the kitchen and the dining area:

the kitchen table and bench seating are on loan from a family in the church.  and what a blessing it is being a perfect fit for that little corner!

now, if you continue to move forward into the apartment, there is another view of the kitchen through the “window” into the living room:

gotta love the old starbucks decorations that zach brought with him…  πŸ™‚

as you continue down the hallway, the bathroom is to your left:

it’s, well…  a bathroom.  ::shrug::  shower curtain to come soon.  sorry, i’ve just never been a fan of the sliding shower door look.

across the hallway is the master bedroom (and by “master” that just means it’s the larger of the 2 rooms):

the bed is zach’s and the dresser and bedside tables were old pieces of furniture that zach’s grandma no longer needed/wanted.

at the end of the hallway is the “office” (translate: extra bedroom with desk and computer and additional storage space ):

aaand more cool nautical stuff on the walls.  πŸ™‚

well, that concludes our tour of the Boomsma portion of The Launching Pad.  thanks so much for joining us today.  i hope you’ve enjoyed your tour.  please come back again in a couple months and see the remodeled version!

if you’d like to support our humble project or have any additional questions i’ll be over at the information desk.

have a nice day!

  1. Your shower curtain obsession made me laugh…  You guys are living in the lap of luxury – two whole bedrooms. πŸ™‚  I remember giving people the ‘2second’ tour of our 600sq ft, 1 bedroom apartment.  I loved every second of it!!!  Like she said above – there’s nothing like your first place!

  2. ok, this is ridiculously adorable!!!! πŸ™‚ i love the apartment, i love the blog, i love that it’s staying a bach pad until it becomes…ahem, well…yours. πŸ˜‰ love you, darlin!

  3. Congratulations to you as well! Yup, we had a pretty quick engagement-to-marriage turnover – 2 mo and 4 days. πŸ™‚ I’d do that again in a heartbeat. Marriage is just the best thing ever and I’m so thrilled for you guys! πŸ™‚ You’ll have to be sure and let me know if you ever make it out our way and we can meet up! Best wishes for your final weeks. Yay marriage! πŸ™‚ MelodyPS – Too funny you know Carolyn as well. Reformed circles are indeed small! πŸ™‚
