is that what they’re calling them these days…?

official names crack me up sometimes…

you know these things?

i always called them “switchbacks” because they make you walk back and forth much like “switchbacks” on a hiking trail.  anyway….  i found out this week they they are called “stanchions” and fall in the category of “public guidance systems.”

public guidance systems!!

for the love…

and much wootage filled the land!

finally.  after years of blood, sweat, tears and much chagrin and sanctification of our pastor…

after years of having the lamest website in Sovereign Grace Ministries…

now, Sovereign Grace Church in Gilbert, AZ, my beloved home church, the dearest place on earth…

has a website!  www.sovgracechurch.com

oh. yeah.

it went live on Friday, with much cheering and the pulling of poppers in Glynn’s office.

(it was a soft [launch] on friday.  “sort of like an out-of-town preview, but in town.”)

and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

ps – check out “The Perambulator” (and try to think of the name in terms other than lines from Peter Pan and The Importance of Being Earnest. )

journal entry

Exodus 13:17 “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead the by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near.  For God said, ‘Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.'”

One would think, based on the text, that the way of the land of the
Philistines made the most sense (“although that was near”), yet God took
them a different direction. I am encouraged and reminded when I read this that God does not always move and operate the way we expect, or the way that seems to make the most “logical” sense. And He doesn’t always share His reasoning with us, even though He always has a reason.  But in His mercy, He knows our weaknesses and kindly leads us in sovereign love.  Sometimes He spares us the trial and sometimes He leads us through it.  There were many trials the Israelites were not spared after they left Egypt (in some ways, one could wonder what trials they weren’t spared!), but here, God took them around by the way to help guard their hearts against fear.  I wonder how many other trials God spared them that are simply not recorded in Scripture?  But despite what is recorded and what isn’t, we know this to be objectively true: God is leading, and in His sovereign wisdom and love, He will lead us through life in the way that brings Him the most glory and that makes me the most holy.  Every step is divinely governed and is perfectly logical, despite what our finite minds may comprehend.

went on a spontaneous overnight roadtrip yesterday with luz.

left 2 hours after initially deciding to go.

had no idea where we would sleep.

ended up sleeping in [the] van in the parking lot of the mountain view dorms at NAU.

got dressed and brushed our teeth in the starbucks bathroom this morning.

oh. yeah.

it was pretty much awesome.  we had a blast.

thanks for being a gypsy vagabond with me luzzy!

did you know that Power Rangers is still on saturday morning tv?  yeah… i think i just lost brain cells during the 15 minutes of it that i watched while eating my raisin bran.  wow.

oh right.  the bathroom.  so the finished product looks a little something like this:

here’s a close up of the shower curtain (so you can see the actual color scheme inspiration, despite the bad picture):

the colors are light sea blue, a light sage-y green, pale yellow, and a sort of bronze.

so yeah.  i pretty much love it.

the key to truly enjoying munchkins
(or “donut holes” as they were called when i was growing up)
from Dunkin DonutsĀ®
is to not keep track of how many you’ve eaten.
